Saalbach/Hinterglemm is considered today as one of the 5 most interesting skiing areas in Austria, and was in 1991 the host of the Skiing World Championships. It is one of the least skiing towns that are really well known from Italy to Norway. This can be seen by the international guests that bustle here in Winter. Not to say the least about the nearby infrastructure with the Zeller Lake and the golf course this is not to be overlooked.
In the winter of 2009, 1.4 million overnight stays in Saalbach has been achieved, which is an absolute record.
In actual snowless winter season 2006/2007 has been found that significantly more snow was by the east / west location as everywhere, and not least the artificial snow is secured to the valley at all lifts in the whole place since of 2007.
The extension of Saalbach to Fieberbrunn was completed in winter 2015/16. The merger will increase the ski circus in the top 3 of the largest ski areas in the world.
In 2018, the ski area will extended by a connection to Zell am See. Therefore you can also ski from Fieberbrunn permanent to Zell am See.
